Jakarta, Indonesia - Isack Hadjar, the Formula 2 runner-up, is ready to make his debut in the Formula 1 class with the Red Bull team in 2025.
According to the official Formula 1 website, on Friday, the junior driver made the move up to the premier class after showing good performance in his second season in F2 this year.
He became the number two driver behind Gabriel Bortoleto, who will also join Sauber in the premier class.
"His journey to Formula 1 has been truly remarkable. He has shown incredible growth, with a series of impressive results in junior single-seater classes," said Red Bull Team Principal Laurent Mekies.
"He has the talent and drive needed to compete at the highest level, and we are very confident that he will adapt quickly and make a significant impact," he added.
Hadjar has been confirmed as Yuki Tsunoda's teammate after Sergio Perez was confirmed to be leaving Red Bull, with Liam Lawson filling the vacancy left by Perez.
Red Bull chose to promote Hadjar to F1 from their junior program, which started in 2001. He follows in the footsteps of four-time world champion Max Verstappen and Sebastian Vettel, as well as eight-time race winner Daniel Ricciardo.
"I'm incredibly excited to take on my new role with RB. It means a lot to me, my family, and everyone who has believed in me from the start," Hadjar said.
"Going from karting to single-seaters and now to Formula 1 is a moment I've worked towards my whole life," he added.
The French driver is eager and highly motivated to take on the new chapter as an F1 driver next year.
"I feel like I'm stepping into a whole new world, driving a car that's far faster and racing against the best drivers in the world. It's going to be a huge learning curve, but I'm ready to work hard and do my best for the team," Hadjar said.
"I hope to work well together and learn from Yuki. I've always looked up to him - he's gone through the Red Bull junior program like I have, and we've got similar paths to F1. He's very experienced and it'll be great to learn from him," he added.
